The Sheds at Cardington have been home to many massive things in the past, and the biggest would be of course, Airship R101.

A record-breaking aircraft

At 777ft long, the R101 set a record that this country will find hard to beat for many years still to come. It's the largest aircraft ever built in the UK.

Far bigger than any aeroplane built here, its massive size struck awe in all that saw her.

Imagining her in flight

If you find it hard to imagine what this aircraft looked like in the flesh, flying overhead, come to the sheds, come up close to them and imagine just 35 feet chopped off the end, now imagine that vast area in the air, flying overhead and that would have been airship R101. Or if you're in London imagine the tallest tower at Canary Wharf, that is 771 feet tall, imagine adding another 6 feet and seeing that big tower flying overhead, that was R101.

So in a way, the sheds can be seen as a true land of the giants.
